Greene County High School vocal music students will present Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast”, the first musical in the new auditorium, this coming weekend.
Performances are slated for Friday and Saturday, March 5 and 6, at 7 pm, and Sunday, March 7, at 2 pm.
Playing lead roles are Andrea Grundon as Belle, Avery Bardole as Beast, Clay Peters as Gaston, Makenna Fox as Mrs Potts, Isaiah Hinote as Lumiere, Brianna Blasnitz as Cogsworth, Madison Hall as Babette, Josey Weaver as Madame LaBouch, Parker Lehman as Maurice, and Gavin VanderLinden as LeFou.
The musical is directed by choir director Dave Heupel and English teacher/drama coach Darrin Jackson. Wendy VanderLinden is pianist, assisted at performances by adult instrumentalists from the area.
Advance tickets are available online only on the school website. Visit https://www.gccsd.k12.ia.us/domain/246 Patrons should select the performance they wish to attend, which will bring up selections for the number of tickets needed.
Due to Covid-19, tickets are being sold in pods of two, four, six or eight seats. All seats in a pod must be purchased. Pods have been arranged to allow for safe social distancing. Only half the capacity of the auditorium will be used. The school is under a face mask mandate.
Tickets are $10 each; there is a processing fee to cover cost of the online ticketing. No seats will be held back for sale at the door; tickets will be available at the door only if a performance has not sold out.
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” features music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. The performance is licensed through Music Theatre International.
